When I was young, my aunt took my cousins and I to the Oregon coast. We went treasure hunting, which meant we looked for agates and washed up pieces of seashells on the beach. This experience began a lifelong love of learning.
I've been able to take this curiosity and love of learning and bring it to the classroom for over 20 years. I love what I do. I've been able to work with companies like Pearson Education, the Bank of Japan, Intessa San Paolo (largest bank in Italy), Bayer, and the World Scholars Cup. I've taught English in China, taught a short-term humanities course in Greece and Italy, and help students nationwide. I help students with SAT and ACT test prep, AP classes, math, science, writing, and ESL. While I began working with students at the college level, I have helped students anywhere from five years old to over 50.
I love those “ah ha” moments, when the person or group I’m working with “gets it” on a whole new level. It’s so empowering for them, and I get to see their lives literally change during our time together. Students are able to connect a concept to the way they learn and make use of their passions and skill sets. I’ve even heard students say, “I actually like math. Don’t tell my mom.”
